Meet your Maker

Hunter founded his studio and began taking custom commisions in 2019, but his love for woodworking came well before that.

- "For as long as I can remember I’ve always been a do it yourself kind of person. As far as building furniture, that started when I moved into my first apartment in college. It was the first time I had a space that was my own. Naturally, I was proud of the space, it was a basement apartment in Beacon Hill, Boston. After living in a few temporary accomodations for 2 years prior I knew that there was no way I was going to fill my apartment with the same ikea furniture every other college student had. In my search for furniture that wouldnt fall apart I quickly realized that, - I like nice sh*t - almost as fast as I realized that I couldn't afford nice sh*t. Consequently, as if it were instinctive, I decided to make my own furniture, and with nothing but a rented circular saw and a drill thats exactly what I did."

As with many woodworkers his craft slowly turned from a hobby to a business. He furnished his own spaces for several years and found that people appreciated the aesthetic of organic custom furniture. After moving from Boston to Santa Monica he took a leap and began leasing a studio space to begin working professionally as a furniture maker.
